Using Tai Chi and Qigong to Treat Cancer Symptoms.

Qigong has been a tool in the Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] toolbox for thousands of years. Tai chi is another related tool that is of more recent origin. Although these two types of moving meditation-type exercises have been widely known and used in China and other parts of Asia, they have become more popular as supplementary therapies for a wide range of ailments in the west only more recently. The present article reviews the results of the application of tai chi and qigong to the treatment of cancer patients. Several studies have found that the addition of tai chi or qigong to the treatment of cancer can result in significant improvement in the areas of depression, fatigue, sleep quality, anxiety, and overall quality of life.

A Suggestion for Treating Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

This article reviews the usual methods used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in the West, then discusses some alternative treatments that are being used by practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The paper concludes by suggesting that some TCM methods, such as tai chi and qigong, should be considered for the treatment of ALS in conjunction with the current Western methods.

Qigong and the Treatment of Illness: Recent Case Studies.

Qigong is a tool of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It has existed for thousands of years and has been used as a natural treatment or remedy for a wide range of illnesses. The present paper reviews some recent studies that have used qigong to treat several illnesses, including back pain, cancer, cognitive impairment, depression and anxiety, fatigue, muscle strength and posture, and Parkinson’s Disease.
